A pinafore is an apron like garment, which is sleeveless and open in the back. Primarily worn by young girls as a decorative garment. A famous example of a pinafore being worn is Alice from Alice in Wonderland. The name of the garment ‘pinafore’ originated from the fact pinafores are pinned (pin) in the front (afore).
